Rincon de la Vieja

Rincon de la Vieja National Park is a still relatively undiscovered gem of the Costa Rican interior. Within it, is the active Volcano Rincon de la Vieja, an andesitic stratovolcano, one of 5 volcanoes in the Cordillera de Guanacaste (Guanacaste Mountain Range). Rincon Volcano is the most accessible of the volcanoes in the range, although it is still remote enough that is has remained a natural wilderness, with as yet little adverse impact from tourism. The highest peak stands at 1916 meters above sea level and the National Park that belongs to the Guanacaste Conservation Area is also part of the World Heritage Site.
