Pozo Azul is located in the hot and humid tropical rain forest area of Costa Rica, which seems in conflict with the natural environment needed for Holstein cows. Sarapiqui is a conservationist and ecologically conscious community, were the river has been declare a National Monument, and protected by Law against any type of abuse, and Pozo Azul is surrounded by community of La Virgen, and the milky parlour only 60 meters away from the river. Manure from the main barn is treated in an anaerobic digester to eliminate odors, produce methane to run a generator. Making the dairy self sufficient in electricity and producing a natural fertilizer to replenish nutrients in the soil to produce corn silage to feed the cows.
