2nd - Salvador - Bahia
Iemanjá - Religious Spectacle honoring the mother
of the waters. Boats leave from the beach bringing offerings.
February 20-28 - Different States
Carnaval - In Rio de Janeiro the main sambaschools show
their art at the sambódromo on Sunday and Monday. For whom
prefers street festivities there are alternatives as Olinda, Recife
and Salvador. In Salvador you can not miss on Friday the Olodum
entrance to Pelorinho and wensday morning the famous meeting of
the trios elétricos at the Castro Alves square with the
presence of 250 thousand people. A million of people acompany
15 trios elétricos at the parade of the Galo da Madrugada
(Saturday Night in Recife). The rival Olinda takes over 200 blocs
on its streets dancing to the sound of frevo and maracatu.
March
Beginning
of March or April - São Paulo - SP
Formule 1: the grand Brazilian race At the autodromo in
Sao Paolo over 30 thousands people come to assist one of the biggest
sprtive events of the country. You can buy tickets for the trainings
(on Friday and Saturday) and for the race on Sunday

09th
to 12th - Pernanbuco -Ceará - Minas Gerais - Goiás
Semana Santa - In the historical cities of Olinda, Mariana,
Ouro Preto and Goiás you can follow great processions on
the Ash Friday. Over 180 km from Recife a 50 thousand people pelgrimage
takes place to see the images of the last moments of Christ. In
Fazenda Nova the largest theater in the world is set up: the new
Jerusalém, with 70 thousands of places. During one week
fifty professional actors and 500 co-actors (regions' inhabitants)
play 60 scenes on 9 stages. The scenery impresses because of its
grandeur in combination with the rocky formations of the region.
The drama of the Ashes is always performed directly after sunset.

16th
to 19th - Campina Grande - Pernambuco
Micarande - One hundred and eighty thousands of people
participate in this carnival on alternative dates. There are trios
elétricos, blocos and trevo groups.
17th
to 21st - Feira de Santana - Bahia
Micareta - It was the first carnival on alternative dates
and hás taken place for 61 years. Dozens of trios elétricos
and famous groups play for the crowd.
12th to 14th - Goiás
Fest of the Divine - The historical city of Goias celebrates
the coming of the Holy Spirit to the apostoles
30/04
to 3/05 - Torres - Rio Grande do Sul
Festival of the hot air baloons - 20.000 people come to
this festival, where over 30 baloons can be admired and there
are expositions and parachuting shows.
May
12th
to 13th - São Paulo - S.P
Carnasampa - In one weekend the Água Espraiada avenue
is visited by over 1,5 million people, with 5 bahian bands and
8 trios elétricos. (São Paulo - SP)
19th to 31st - Londrina - Paraná
International Theatr Festival - Theater groups from Brazil
and abroad present themselves at this event that is taking place
for 31 years.
31/05 to 02/06 - Pirenópolis - Goiás
Festival of the Holy Spirit - Event with a 179 year tradition
that mixes dances (congada and pastorinhas) with battle similations
(horse back riding).

to 28/06 - Campina Grande - Paraiba
June party - There is party on the streets with flags,
over 300 dancing groups, tents with typical drinks and food, games,
satisfying over a million visitors
01 a 30 - Caruaru - Pernambuco
Festa Junina - On São João day (23) around
30 thousand fires are lit all over the town. The biggest is 26m
high. There are plenty of events during the whole month. One part
of the city becomes a dancing place with tents, shows and parades
of decorated vans.
12 to 14 - Belo Horizonte - Minas Gerais
Carnabelô - Another alternative data carnival with
1,3 millions of persons accompanying the blocos and 11 bahian
bands.
23 to 30 - São Luis - Maranhão
Bumba-Meu-Boi - Folkloric festivities in Maranhão.
Presentations of various groups in different parts of the city.
05 to 14 - Lages - Santa Catarina
Festa do Pinhão -The pinetree fruit is the reason
for plenty of events. Over 300 thousand of persons accompany 100
shows on 5 stages in the city. Also there are South American shows
with folklore groups from various countries.
28 to 30 - Parintins - Amazonas
Folklore festival - The Boi-Bumbá party changes
Parintins. Thirty five thousand of people arrive by boat to the
city to join the parade of the 2 blocos (the Garantido and the
Caprichoso), that tell the story of the amazonic folklore. The
dispute between the two divides the city and is marked by rhitms
that remind indigenous parties. There are many costumes, flags,
decorated vans and everything is happening at the Bumbódromo.
July
10
to 22 Joinville - Santa Catarina
International Dance Festival - Over 6 thousand of
dancers from Brazil and abroad present themselves in parks, factories
and the Ivan Rodrigues auditory.
20 to 26 - Ilha Bela -Coast of São Paulo
Sailing Week - One of the major nautic happennings of Brazil.
Olympic Champions participate in the tournee.
20 to 25 - São Paulo - São Paulo
Fenasoft - The major IFT fair on the country.
Last
week of the month - Fortaleza - Ceará
Fortal - Considered the major alternative data carnaval of Brazil.
One and a half million of people go to the sea avenue to see the
trios elétricos and the 15 carnival blocos. A four day
party.

to 23 - Gramado - Rio Grande do Sul
Festival of the Cinema - In the winter of the Gaúcha
mountain range acontece a principal premiação do
cinema nacional. Também tem a participação
de filmes de outros países latino-americanos.
21 to 30 - Barretos - São Paulo
Party of Peão de Boiadeiro - A multitude of persons
gathers at the Parque do Peão to see duels between cowboys,
rodeos, and guitar festivals. This event attracks over 1,5 million
tourists.

Expoflora - A pavilion of 3 mil metres gathers 180.000
persons that buy different types of flowers and plants.
20 to 28 - Cáceres - Mato Grosso
Internacional Fishing Championship - 180.000 people follow
this fishing event in the Pantanal.

Bienal internacional de São Paulo - Main plastic
arts event of the country that reunites important national and
international artists.
15 to 25 - São Paulo - SP
Automobile Exposition - Shows the new developments and
launches of the automobile industry.
07 to 11 - Rio de Janeiro - RJ
Brazil Surf Championship - On the beach of Barra da Tijuca
the main surfing event of the country takes place
Last
week of october - Recife - Pernambuco
Recifolia - The beach of Boa Viagem becomes the stage for
a show of nothern music styles. The corwd dances on the rhitms
of axé music, frevo, Forró, reggae, samba, timbalada
and pagode. The mixture of the rhitms makes over a million persons
participate in this out of season carnival.
Second part of october - Blumenau - Santa Catarina
Oktoberfest - Brazilian version of the Munique similar.
It was created to restore the city after a flood. Around 500.000
persons come by 5 large pavilions drinking half a million litres
and eating 40.000 typical dishes from Bavaria. There are folkloric
shows and a polka and marches presentation. This feast lasts 18
days.

to 13 - Natal - Rio Grande do Norte
Carnaval - Carnival on alternative dates. Famous group
performance such as Banda Mel, Chiclete com Banana, Asa de Águia
and Cheiro de Amor.
31 - São Paulo - SP
São Silvestre - 12.000 athletes leave at 17:00 for
a 15km run trough the important streets of the city.
31/12 to 01/01 - Rio de Janeiro RJ
New Year - Traditional burning of fireworks on the Copacabana
beach, where over 2,5 million people gather to assist the show.
There are waterfalls made of fireworks and different special effects.
