The Nana Banana started in 1993 as an "alternative" for Camaleão. Today its is the largest and most successfull alternative block in Salvadors carnival and is present at the largest out of season carnivals in Brazil. The block can be charactarized by reuniting beautiful young and very cheerfull party people.This block always takes place Friday and Saturday before the start of the official carnival in the Barra circuit , traditionally with the famous Chiclete com Banana band. From 2000 carnival onward, Nana Banana is starting even another day earlier, Thursday, and always has a life performance by some specially invited artist. Names like Netinho, Banda Beijo and Ricardo Chaves already performed on Thursdays with Nana. Fridays and Saturdays Chiclete com Banana band leads its block with all their energy.
