KAYAKING OCOÍ RIVER

We offer a kayaking adventure on the Ocoí river. This is a small river that originally emptied into the Paraná River, before the formation of the reservoir of Itaipu Dam. Currently, it empties into an immense reservoir, having its waters dammed at the junction thus forming an ideal environment for spotting various bird species. It is not unusual to see caymans (small alligators) among water plants. By nightfall sometimes capybaras (little wild Brazilian pigs) are spotted that, peacefully, come for a drink and swim in this calm river. Departure by car from Foz do Iguaçu bound for São Miguel do Iguaçu (55km), kayak navigation down the Ocoí, with tour ending at the artificial beach of São Miguel do Iguaçu.
