This small village, located on the southern shore of Lake Izabal, was once the main Guatemalan port on the Pacific coast. The village attracts tourists with an unusually beautiful nature and the ability to perform floating on the river flowing from the lake to the Pacific Ocean. Near the village is well preserved colonial fort of San Felipe (National Monument of the country) and the ruins of Mayan civilization Quirigua included in the UNESCO list. The lake is famous for the fact that this is the only place in the world where there are freshwater sharks. This bull shark, which reaches a length of 2,5-3 meters.
