Kourou's depressing, scattered sprawl of cheap architecture can be blamed on the boom from what is now its star attraction - the space-age Center Spatial Guyanais. The only other area of the town worth visiting is Le Vieux Bourg - a great place for eating, drinking and wondering why the rest of the town isn't this hip.
