Referred to alternatively as the 'city of sculptures' or El Balcón del Oriente (the Balcony of the Oriente). Las Tunas is devoid of any buildings of architectural note. It remains a low-rise and unpretentious place that feels more like a calm suburb than a business hub. Those on the rebound from Santiago or Camagüey will find the pace of life slower here, though the local people are colorful enough and the hustlers refreshingly low-voiced.
