Rincon de la Vieja National Park is a still relatively undiscovered gem of the Costa Rican interior. Within it, is the active Volcan Rincon de la Vieja, an andesitic stratovolcano, one of 5 volcanos in the Cordillera de Guanacaste (Guanacaste Mountain Range). The highest peak of Rincon de la Vieja stands at 1916 meters above sea level. Rincon de la Vieja is the most accessible of the volcanos in the range, although it is still remote enough that is has remained a natural wilderness, with as yet little adverse impact from tourism. The National Park is also part of the World Heritage Site, the Guancaste Conservation Area.
