The bay of Ferradura, which in Portuguese means horseshoe, is named after its shape. It lies to the south of the resort town Armação dos Búzios, commonly known as simply Búzios, in the state of Rio de Janeiro. The town is famous for its more than 20 beaches, which were once a retreat for pirates and slave traders, but today attract tourists from all over the world. The beautiful Ferradura beach is arguably one of the most beautiful beaches in the area. In downtown Búzios one can enjoy good nightlife and taste the delicious local cuisine.
